One of the spectacles of the semester was two weeks ago at the BSA Handover, amongst the clouds on the 78th Floor of Q1. It all kicked off with light drinks on Q-Deck, overlooking the entire Gold Coast and beyond.
By eight the party was heaving with anticipation of the buffet and open tab that awaited. The party continued upstairs as we were escorted to a private restaurant and bar. The pre-dinner beverages had already set the ambience for a spectacular night.
The evening was a classy event. In true Bond style, suited up gents and primped up ladies slowly made their way towards a state of overflowing glasses and food sprawled across tables. The food was a culinary experience. Kilos of fresh prawns, oysters, Morton bay bugs, slow roasted meats and well dressed salads were just the some of the taste sensations. Washed down with some wine or a good hearty beer it would have been hard not to have been satisfied.
The feature event was of course the announcement of the new BSA. Many were on the edge of their seats, hands clasped tight and eager with anticipation of the words to come off Warriner and Fazza’s lips. After announcement, dancing and alcohol consumption increased tenfold as the tension turned to inebriation. The drinks still flowed on; the night proved to be young. The party progressed to the second venue of Melba’s Champagne Bar. Drink Specials and lots of dancing to disco balls continued into the early hours of the morning.
The night has set the benchmark for many events to come. The handover proved to be well organized, relaxed and above all a good night. A big thank you must go to the organizers Sam Warriner and Raoul D’Cruz. Without their dedication, hours of organizing and collaboration the event, and many previous BSA events, would not have been the same.
On behalf of the BSA for 2008/2009, I would like to thank everyone that came along on the night. I look forward to seeing you all there next year! |
